El término se mantiene con fines de recuperación de los registros históricos sobre dicho género. Aunque el nombre del género Oidium fue eliminado a favor de diversos nombres genéricos telemórficos, la lista completa de nomenclátores de especies aún no ha sido publicada. Por consiguiente, se mantienen algunos binomios como especies y términos más precisos para Oidium. The term is retained for the purposes of retrieval of historical records on this genus. Although the genus name Oidium has been supressed in favor to numerous telemorphic generic names, the full list of species nomenclators has not been published yet.
