Zootechnics encompasses many life sciences: genetics, physiology, ethology, epidemiology and hygiene, as well as veterinary medicine and the economics of animal production. The French Zootechnics Association (AFZ) was founded in 1949 by the very celebrated professor A.-M. Leroy, one of the fathers of modern French zootechnics. La zootechnie englobe de nombreuses sciences du vivant : la génétique, la physiologie, l’éthologie, l’épidémiologie et l’hygiène, ainsi que la médecine vétérinaire et l’économie des productions animales.
