Description*

With the Food Item Ontology (FIO), data on different food topics from multiple databases can be gathered. These databases might have different definitions for food, but when connected to the concept of food item as defined in the FIO ontology, it becomes clear that the databases talk about the same thing.
The FIO is currently used for a knowledge graph containing instance data from the NEVO database (Dutch Food Composition Database), but will be expanded with other datasets in the future. This repository contains the Food Ontology. This ontology is a work in progress Ontology that aims to represent the main structure of the ontology built for the usage of the PDA Services.
