Definitions
All the techniques and branches of science relating to the breeding and production of animals to obtain products (milk, meat, eggs, leather, wool) or services (traction, leisure, sport) used by man. Zootechnics encompasses many life sciences: genetics, physiology, ethology, epidemiology and hygiene, as well as veterinary medicine and the economics of animal production. The French Zootechnics Association (AFZ) was founded in 1949 by the very celebrated professor A.-M. Leroy, one of the fathers of modern French zootechnics. It brings together 45 organizations and nearly 200 specialists.
