Chromosome

Definitions

A chromosome can be used as an abstract representation of a (not necessarily named) chromosome to represent ploidy within a data set. The "Chromosome" instance is then used for for denoting the locus of phased genotypes. For placing genomic features ("Feature" class instances) on a chromosome, contig, scaffold, etc., please see the "Landmark" class. It is encouraged that Sequence Ontology terms are used to annotate a Landmark with a biological type (s.a. "chromosome", "contig", etc.). Encodes for "sequencing-scope" pragma in GVF.
