pulicosis (rabbit)

Definitions
Pullicosis is a skin condition caused by several species of fleas. It is a common disease in wild rabbits but is never found in rational breeding. There are two forms of pullicosis: rabbit-specific pullicosis caused by Spilopsyllus cuniculi, which depends on the rabbit's hormonal cycle, and temporary pullicosis caused by Ctenocephalides canis or felis. The latter occurs following contact with a carnivore. Symptoms include skin irritation and restlessness. Fleas are also one of the vectors of myxomatosis.
