cryptosporidiosis (rabbit)

Definitions
Cryptosporidiosis is an internal parasitic infection caused by Cryptosporidium parvum. They are sometimes found in the intestines of diarrhoeic rabbits. Mortality is high in newborn rabbits. In weanlings, mortality is lower, but liquid diarrhoea, desquamation and villous atrophy are present. Rabbits become infected by ingesting oocytes in their faeces.
