Preferred name

echinococcosis (Hydatid Disease) (rabbit)

Definitions
Echinococcosis is rare and only develops if there is an infected dog or cat nearby and if the rabbit ingests enough eggs. This disease is caused by the larva of Echinococcus granulosus. Symptoms depend on where the larvae migrate: respiratory disorders if they settle in the lungs, nervous disorders and behavioral changes if they settle in the brain, and few signs if they settle in the liver.
